Apple Bacon Brussel Sprouts

This is a great side dish. Depending on the saltiness of your bacon, you may not need to add salt to this recipe.
- Ingredients- 1 lb brussels sprouts (whole or sliced in half) 
- 2 tsp lard, butter, or olive oil 
- 1 medium green apple 
- 4-6 slices bacon 
- 1/2 Tbsp rosemary finely chopped (fresh is preferred but not required) 
- Additional salt & pepper* to taste 
 
- Preparation- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. 
- Grease a baking sheet. 
- Toss the brussel sprouts in olive oil and salt and pepper as desired. 
- Place evenly on the sheet. 
- Bake for 20 minutes. 
- In the meantime, chop bacon into ~1” pieces and begin to sauté in a skillet. 
- While that is cooking, chop the apple into ½-1 inch cubes. 
- Add the apple and rosemary once the bacon is about 75% done and continue sauteéing until the apple has gone a little soft. 
- Once the brussel sprouts are done, mix them with the apple-bacon mix and serve. 
 
*INGREDIENT DISCUSSION
PEPPER: Pepper can be potentially inflammatory or higher in nickel.
APPLES: Is a high FODMAP food.
